Hard to believe it is August already. Time flies when you are having fun, I guess. The horse shortage appears to have become acute, as it looks like Northfield has gone to 8-horse fields. I wish we could see 9s at least in the super races, but i understand the move.

Race 1: 2 Fantasy Character- Three straight quality efforts one level up and now gets Charlino; 1 Unrecognized Saint- Faced better in Indy, but will need a local start; 7 Eagle Jacob- Always works, post is the issue.
Race 2: 5 Currently Flying- ETE off a smashing win, gets the call despite Dan choosing off; 3 Backbeat Hall- Have to give him a look with Charlino choosing him; 4 Christmas Photo K- has raced better with Lasix and may surprise.
Race 3: 6 Moon River Dell- Slight call in a slight group of mostly NW1L8; 1 Auto Pilot- Have to give him a look from the rail; 8 Frenchies Pride- Snowman hurts, but this is a huge driver improvement.
Race 4: 5 Rose Run Luther- Ultra sharp right now and odds may be okay; 2 Giulio- Needed the confidence booster last time and should go forward, but he’s no value; 1 Alliance Hall- Will use his speed from the rail; 6 Lookslikefire- Improving and can get a small part.
Race 5: 7 Depravedhedonist- Not that good from out here, but gets a super-soft group; 6 Pandora’s Gambit N- My gambit would be to box Pandora and the Hedonist; 3 Dm Fatboy Slim- Class and post relief after three solid efforts.
Race 6: 6 Can’t Fence Me In- Like so many Jesses, he’s matured with age; 5 North’s Chester- Just keeps plugging away for Eidens; 3 Here I Glow- May be a factor with this good post draw.
Race 7: 3 Gordie How- Not sure when he raced this cheap (not counting the fairs); 2 Extremely Fast- He was on his return, but not quite enough; 1 Jennas Dream- Should be Koch-ing from the rail; 5 Key Western – Quality animal, but Charlino chose #2 over him and #1.
Race 8: 4 Fox Valley Flyby- Moves up for slumping trainer Straub, with a paltry .452 UTRS; 7 Delivered Rules- Dan C took 2010 local HOTY over #3 & #5; 6 I Know Your Lookin- Consistent, but does his best racing from further in.
Race 9: 3 Moreland Flash- Ends string of miserable posts & gets Charlino; 6 Amos Moses- Gator poacher impressed with life mark in last; 5 I’ve Got Life- Cost me a Pick Four with the win, but he figures on memories alone.
Race 10: 5 Dax Hanover- Just a hunch in a well-matched field; 4 Goin Home Ray- Needs to do a bit more than he has been lately; 1 Winter Cruise- Must consider from the rail’ 8 Rapid Pursuit- Would be higher on my ticket if not for the dreaded snowman.
Race 11: 4 Go Cowboy Go- Drops well below the level of his last win, worth as go despite inconsistency; 3 Westedge Matt- Always hangs around and should again; 5 Sunburned Vern- Had success here last year, chancy.
Race 12: 1 Sky Strikes- In a very sharp form cycle right now, the call, despite the move up; 5 Stand Tall McGraw- Also moves up in good form- 4 Heez Ruthless N- He’s not eligible at time of entry, but he still fits with these,.
Race 13: 5 Chang Dynasty- Wasn’t exactly a world-beater last time, but at least he paced the mile; 1 Egotistic Pro- Former stablemate of the pick good get the money; 3 Tooter Lane- Old guy gets class relief; 6 Polo Joe- Best of the rest despite a tough season.
