Back To The Track Pick Four

The Giss’ Back-to-the-Track Pick Fourplay

THE PLAY

Leg A- Meadowlands- Toughest race of the four. I LOVE #10 Sky Tantrum, freshened with two good Q’s and gets Dave Miller for trainer Mark Silva. Was competitive in this class before the sick scratch. No way he goes off at 15. If he does, I bet him to win, too. They opened up the class for the #2 Lockloandnexplode, just three, but racing well in a nominally higher class. #4 Pair A Dice fits well and gets fresh hands, while #5 Bullville Powerful is sharp, but may not have the best style for a mile track.

Leg B- Northfield Park -The first key angle to look at is Dan Charlino's choice of the #4 Aliquippa, shipping in from the Meadows and getting class relief, over the #1 Moreland Flash and there #2 Intrepid Aries. Secondly, even though Charlino chose off, Moreland Flash has been exceptional with trainer John G. Wengerd, a .136 hitter, driving in his last two. Even without Charlino, this one is a player. Robin Miller chose the #3 Sunset Ball over the #7 Western Outfitter, and with a presentable outing against better in his local debut last week; he is also a key player. If you need a longshot, I would look at #6 Gordie How, who has faced better, but has not finished strongly at higher levels.

So, even with the Charlino first-time and choice angle, no way you can single here. Use the #4 Aliquippa, the #3 Sunset Ball, then the #1 Moreland Flash. If you are going deeper, throw on #6 Gordie How, but I see no reason to be pushing the "all" button here.

Leg C- Yonkers Raceway- #1 King Cat Anvil N gets class relief and the rail, which puts him on top of my ticket. Has good tactical speed, which is a requirement in this bulky field. #5 Eagle Now started his career at Northfield, and mopes up, but I really like him with Gingras as my second horse. If you must go deeper, try the #7 Cc Racy, who always contends and can break through with the right trip.

Leg D- I was tempted to single #10 Western Siege, who has been priced to the outside regularly while winning three of the last six against similar, with no bad efforts. But, even on a mile track, the #10 hole can be tough. Marcus Miller is posting good numbers and the #2 Mack Hill, has been pretty consistent, winning six of 24 this year. If you need a longshot, try #3 Four Starz Magic, who has been freshened after a sick scratch while racing well against better.
