It's always cool when I get to cvombine racing and my love of soccer and I get to do just that Saturday, April 10. The Orange Boosters are holding their first annual Night at the Races and I will be splitting my time between the event and the TV studio Saturday. I coach at Orange (Womens' soccer) and the Boosters work their butts off to make sure our athletes are properly equipped (My girls got new uniforms last year and there was no nickel and diming. We made our proposal and they paid the bill). I wil be watching track conditions and driver changes closely. Good luck.
Race 1: 7 Painted Speed- As good as he was last week, does assigned post even matter? Dan Chaz- Perfect trip last week and couldn’t get to the winner; 5 Road Storm- Dan chose over #2.
Race 2: 7 Toronado Mindale- Moves waaayy up, but gets a soft group and Aaron in the bike 1st time; 1 Caramel Dumpling- Another class jumper, he’ll be flying late; 4 Loo Ma No Pans- A legitimate one in this class, even though recent form isn’t that good.
Race 3: 8 Winbak Len- Barn change and Aaron, but still a tough task from the snowman; 1 Rd Rustler- Will be forward early and gets a big piece; 6 Knockout Sahbra- A chance. (Note- As good as Muhammad Ali N can be, off the layoff and recent form, I cannot pick him.)
Race 4: 5 Just Catch Ya- A yikes moment in last, but figures if flat with Aaron; 4 Westedge Matt- Moves back up, but could be anything; 9 Up Front Andre- Returns to Northfield where he has had good success; 2 Tracking Dragons- Needs to be more forward early.
Race 5: 7 Expresso Forte- Has faced much better & should roll; 9 Standing Room- Consistent performer fits well with these; 5 Major Degree- 2nd start back after a great sophomore campaign.
Race 6: 9 Yankee Coburn- First time Charlino on the trainer’s choice, a value? 2 Master Wheels- Form isn’t great, but is very strong at this class; 5 Mom’s A Hustler- Deceptively fast trotter, recent lines hide her form a bit.
Race 7: 1 Saltea’s Sanjay- Super sharp and draws the best; 2 Heez Ruthless N- Better back under Schilacci’s tutelage; 5 Kinnick- Really like him, but the other two figure better; 3 Eye Of The Dog- Returns to Northfield in a class where he can compete.
Race 8: 4 Sun Of A Victory- Was awesome in the seasonal debut and may well take these; 1 One Sharp Spur- Wins 1 of 3 lifetime and loves this track; 5 Little Old Ladywho- Super sharp mare is versatile which really helps.
Race 9: 1 Mattonthechooch- A slight call based on his previous form; 4 Goatcoat George Tm- Up into uncharted territory; 8 Winter Cruise- Gets my call if he draws five or better, tough task.
Race 10: 1 Bustamante- Recent form is deceptive, he fits pretty well; 9 Ilookelikevada- Not as sharp as she was, but still racing very well; 4 My Claudette- Inconsistent, but doing some very good racing for Rosy; 2 Extreme Games- Drops to a level at which he can compete.
Race 11: 3 Tessalation- Ohio Horse of the Month for March has one to beat; 1 Category Six- Faces lesser, gets Aaron and the rail, but the 3 is very sharp; 6 Little Gary Perry- How low can he go, nice acquisition for the Steck/Lupton team.
Race 12: 9 Goin Home Ray- Ran into more traffic woes than 480 during rush hour; 1 Narcosis- Strong bid in local debut stalled off a layoff, better here from rail with Aaron; 3 Dream Sunrise- Drops below the level of his last win.
Race 13: 7 Mainline Hall- Hoping the post scares a few off and we get even money; 4 Townline Powerful- Racing decently at his best level; 6 Polo Joe- Form is on an upswing, consider; 1 Liftoff Bayama- Can hang around with these, especially with the rail.
