Wow. Tuesday's Pick Four pays $96 with four favorites. That, my friends, is the power of the carryover. I had three winners and a second choice, meaning I only needed to go 2 deep (instead of three deep) on my ticket. Of course, had Redemptions Reward got up, the number would have been better. Still, my Big Fat Super Tuesday showed a profit as I hit a couple of dime supers.
The rain and camera issues sent me to the palatial Dave Bianconi Rooftop Studios for my picks last night and I spent the time between races watching the talking heads on CNN and FoxNews try to fill time. This year's Presidential election is the most interesting in years, but where do they find these guys. Most of them have worse hair and worse opinions than I do. I like to think of myself as a political junkie (I'll bore you in a minute) but even I was getting tired of it-- and we were done early last night. It continued for several more hours.
The five remaining major candidates (with all respect to Ron Paul) are all qualified, but I truly believe only one is electable. Let's be honest. If Hillary Clinton is the Democratic nominee, the Republicans would coalesce behind anybody with a pulse to beat her. Barack Obama will need to overcome the Bradley factor (many whites will say they will vote for an African-American in a poll, but then go into the booth and vote their race). There are too many places in this country that are not ready for a black President. On the Republican side, Mitt Romney is unelectable due to his religion. Far too many closed-minded folks would rather have a Christina black man than a Mormon in the White House. Mike Huckabee cannot win states like New York and California with his strict, evangelical Christian platform. That means John McCain will be our next President.
