posted Tuesday, 2/5/08

Things have been busy and I may not get everything posted today that I want. First off, The Pick Four Carryover (yes, Pick Four) tonight is nearly $6,000! The interest in the Pick Five has clearly carried over to this wager and it is becoming more and more attractive (and easier to hit with a medium size bankroll). I don't really see a single in this one, so I am gonna go deeper than I would like. The first leg (race 8) is the toughest. Goldies Girl and My Mary both like to win races, nobody else in here does. But neither draws well and Merriman chose of My Mary, so I have to add Kerry Again and Miss Matilda (10-1 ML) to the ticket. Horses like Charm N Fun and Miss Matilda could well be on the tri, but I don't see them winning off their current form, yet I have to use one price horse. In the 9th, Homer Simpson and Mcenroe Blue Chip are the best, but both have been known to beat themselves, so I have to add Sail With The Wind to the ticket. In the 10th, we go inside again, with a 1-2-3 and we wrap up the 11th, a mares split of conditioned claimers, with a 2-6-7. That's an $81 ticket (156w126w123w267) and I still don't have everything I want covered, so if I can get a scratch somewhere, I might go 3x3x4x2 and save $9, or I might add a horse and go to a $108 ticket.

Wall of Fame nominations are due in a week, and while the equine suggestions we have received (including Shutupandkissme, Cambest Prince and Kelly Miles, are all very deserving of consideration, I have been surprised at the human nominees. Heck, somebody actually nominated me. Are we that desperate? There has to be a horseman or owner out there who is worthy of consideration. Grab a form and nominate him or her. Or e-mail me at info@northfieldpark.com and tell me why your selection should be considered.
