Sorry. I was sick for a couple days last week and then got behind on my real work. Today, I spoke to the Ohio media directors for the Obama and McCain campaigns and left voice mails for Hillary and Hukabee's media guys as well, inviting their candidates to speak at Northfield Park. I am pretty sure what the answers will be, but I figured if Hillary wants to help companies that don't export jobs out of the country, she should be supporting us. Thanks to her possible Veep, our Governor, the Reverend Ted Strickland, we are exporting jobs to other states, so how 'bout helping is out? The McCain guy was very nice and polite and said he would actually discuss with the brain trust...he actually said brain trust! I had visions of the Soggy Bottom Boys from O Brother Where Art Though? Obama's spokesman was polite, but declined, pointing out that we were a gambling establishment. I asked if that meant Mr. Obama would not be throwing out the first pitch at any MLB games if he were elected, since there is more money bet on a single pro baseball game than on a night of races here. He remained civil, but just said we didn't fit their plans. I thanked him and wished him luck. If I hear back from the other campaigns, I will let you know, although it's hard to imagine a guy like Huckabee, who doesn't believe in evolution would speak at a racetrack where horses that, thanks to specialized breeding, have been developed to race with a gait that did not exist in the wild (other than among camels and elephants). Mike, so is Eohippus a figment of the paleo-biologist imagination, or did the Creator just change his mind later?

In the words of Tony Kornheiser, I will try to do better next time.
