Saturday at the Summit

The Summit County Fair/Buckeye Super Stakes are not what they once were, with purses rivaling the Ohio Sires Stakes, but they are still a chance to see some pretty nice youngsters chase some decent purses. While usually pretty chalky, there are always a couple good prices IF you can find them. Watch the warm-ups and post parades closely, especially with the trotters. Good luck!

Race 1: 5 Count On Ben- He is going to be overbet and he’s not invincible, but he gets a slight call; 3 Northmedo Wine Guy- Solid, other than the Marysville line; 2 Sams Yankee- Steps up, but is doing good work and improving.

Race 2: 5 Rose Run Natassia- Maybe the straps will help her pull an upset; 3 Jessica Rayne- Supposed to be a good one, she gets another chance after a costly break; 4 Rose Run Nellie- Just keeps getting better and better.

Race 3: 4 Rose Run Mac- Has won 4 in a row on the track & just needs a clear path; 5 Brewing Master- I really like him & and I’m not sure how good he can be; 3 Lima Legend- McKirgan chose off, so Dee is stuck with Noble. Darn.

Race 4: 6 Moon River Dell- Consistent results and gets Lasix for the first time; 1 Moonsailer- This NW1L8 is a solid player from the rail; 3 Stand Tall Mcgraw- He is very consistent, but hasn’t won since last year; 8 Sabastin Seacrest- Gets Noble, but must overcome the snowman here. Anything might happen.

Race 5: 1s Hershberger Entry- Like the horses, like the drivers and like getting 2-4-1; 3 Northmedo Hooray- DEII is competitive with the pros & this gelding is solid; 2 Quantum King Leo- The Miller will tell his tale from inside.

Race 6: 9 Genie Sings- Fresh after two years on the road and the Q was okay; 1 Natural Sevens- Always hangs around, but needs to do a lot more work; 6 Fast Talker Lavec- What might he be if he stays flat?

Race 7: 5 Depravedhedonist- I really like the move to Merriman in the bike; 7 Eagle Jacob- Gets class relief after a very good effort; 6 Bodandy Andy- Noble will be looking for the point with this one, even with this draw; 2 Museum Piece- Showed little last time but should be better reunited with Wyatt.

Race 8: 3 Osborne’s Sweeper- Best bet of the night; 4 Our Little Filly- The July 1 line here tells me she can contend; 6 Cruise On Ashley- Well-bred filly has had some tough trips, but has some ability.

Race 9: 5 Empire Earth- Another one who may be overbet and who doesn’t have to win, but I see little else; 9 Next Chip- Showed some improvement last time; 2 Handsome Howie- Has been facing better with little luck at the fairs.

Race 10: 7 Captain Jesse- Very nice freshman could pull it off if he can overcome the draw; 10 Jailbird Jesse- He’s gonna have to deal with worse traffic than the Innerbelt; 4 Rose Run Nash- Rapidly improving for a hot barn; 3 Countmymuscles- Needs to finish stronger than he has been.

Race 11: 3 Magical New Day- Has been facing better & the last mile against older pacers impresses; 4 Finn Man- Inconsistent, but contends with his best; 2 Rella On Attack- faces a tougher group than at Carrollton or Mt Vernon.

Race 12: 6 Nora’s Dream T- Always contends, she just needs to finish her mile for a change; 7 Spiced Pork- Has faced better with little recent success. Aaron helps; 4 Canadian Frontier- A different animal when on the engine.

Race 13: 5 Egotistic Pro- Ha returned to Northfield with an exclamation point! 4 Kb’s On My Toes- Rounding into form and must be considered; 1 Goodnite Wilbur- Tends to be pretty good from the rail; 2 Panpoint Accuracy- Was much better last start, until the late bobble.
