The Return of Greg Grismore

Talk about changing the dynamic. GGG, the local driving champ in 2003-04-05
is driving at Northfield Saturday (and likely July 3 with Sires Stakes and Battle of Lake Erie on tap). BUT keep in mind, he was originally only listed on a couple Ehrhardt and Oliverio horses and most of his drives are picking up someone else's garbage (horses other drivers chose off). It creates an interesting dynamic becuase Gris has a slightly different driving style than Robin Miller or Kurt Sugg. But we have to weight the choice off and the change. Greg could have a great night or get shut out, but IF he makes Northfield his regular Saturday night home, he should win 3-4 races a night in a matter of a couple weeks.

Race 1: 3 Mac’s Golddigger- Should be tighter after a needed start; 4 Hobies Ascooten- Consistent, but needs to do more; 9 Sherry Sherry Baby- Maybe the barn change will help.

Race 2: 6 Windsong Fortune- Meadows invader does not have to win; 4 Caramel Dumpling- With his racing style, he is always in it with a short field; 1 Western Outfitter- Gets Grismore.

Race 3: 1 Vilas Blue Chip- Does good work and was solid last time in this class; 2 Barratry- Will be forward early; 5 Nuclear Cam- We’ll see if the Grismore factor works for this “move in.”

Race 4: 2 Supreme Ruler- Monster mile in last, rolls again; 9 Big Bad Tj- Impeccable form, 2nd tier may be an issue; 3 Laughing Is An Art- Does his best racing with an aggressive driver, Triple G qualifies; 4 Stand N Shout- Moves up and gets Ammon.

Race 5: 9 Flori’s Future- Very impressive last week, but not the handiest filly; 2 Nora’s Dream T- Drops back down a notch which should help; 4 Jazz Spur- Should be good with this draw.

Race 6: 3 Moofalet- Wyatt chose this one over Trixie Osborne, who I liked better on paper; 6 Trixie Osborne- Doesn’t exactly suffer with GGG; 9 Destiny Glow- If she likes the small track.

Race 7: 9 Wow Power- Stahl chose this one over 2/4/6, should win; 3 Major Degree- A bit inconsistent, but fits well with his best; 5 Spirit Freeluck- liked him better before Wyatt chose off; 1 Caviarandsoftmusic- This one and the #2 are both chancy coming off scratches.

Race 8: 1 Glasslite- Should be tight and gets a trotting master; 5 Little Old Ladywho- Was pressured in last, but should have been better; 2 Master Wheels- Has some class, form is off.

Race 9: 5 Rebel Zeus N- Default choice when Charlino chose off the six; 6 Buttercup Bob- Questions abound, but fits on paper; 1 E C K- Has had success with Grismore if memory serves.

Race 10: 3 Gordie How- Back in at a level where he has been very good; 9 Iconic Style- Reunited with Charlino tonight; 7 Lolas Cruiser- One of a few on which Grismore was originally listed; 4 Polo Joe- Ultra-consistent and must consider.

Race 11: 2 Victory Is Coming- Last week’s mile was second fastest ever by a soph filly here; 6 Muscle Sprouts- Has won ¼ of his starts lifetime; 1 Master Buckin Uhl- Another chance after a costly break while in a hole.

Race 12: 3 Tooter Lane- Did moderate work late & gets 1st time Charlino; 1 Dragon Seeker- Trainer driving leaves questions; 5 Rella’s Trick- May be braver with the bottom level win.

Race 13: 3 Kinnick- Drops off a win, man up and write the check; 4 Bodandy Andy- Gets Gris and appears second best; 6 Lucky Jackpot- Best local draw in quite awhile.

Race 14: 4 Zakman- Class relief, 3rd start back and GGG, ‘nuff said; 8 Elm Grove Gerson- Post hurts, but he has a shot with the right trip; 2 Romance’s Thunder- 3rd back and will be forward early; 1 Fox Valley Mavro- First timer for a hot barn, but has show little and will need a start.
