Monday Musings

On the soapbox. I love Ohio racing. I support Ohio racing. But some of this state's rules are so archaic as to be embarrassing. The state forbids us from annluncing claims before the race, even though EVERY MAJOR JURISDICTION IN NORTH AMERICA either permits it or requires it. Even worse is the 45 day rule. I realize that at times it is necesary to fill races, but the Dummy Jones race is unplayable withthe amount of time he is has been off. It is absolutely unfair to bettors to be asked to put money into a race like this.

Race 1: 2 Praying For A Win- Gets class drop & a call even though Robin chose #8; 9 Genesis Victory- Big efforts but bad racing luck; 8 B B Balanced Babe- Not that effective from outside.

Race 2: 2 Special Favor- Green and a hunch play; 3 Sp Starbright- Not sustaining work lately, fits off his best; 1 Maria Sandrina- In The Sulky’s favorite rat gets fresh hands & the rail tonight.

Race 3: 3 Web Charger- Consistent, but needs to do more. The best are not in here anymore; 5 Brassie M- Seems to like this track; 7 Tsm Queen B T – Has shown well from the PP 7 before.

Race 4: 9 Leach- Best recent effort was with Aaron, as he is here. Why not? 3 Stand N Shout- Finishing poorly, but solid for ¾ of a mile; 6 Shady Sequel- His brother won the Jug. Think I am struggling for angles? 8 Lashas Last- Russ should fire out and keep his fingers crossed.

Race 5: 4 Victory Princess- No chance in return from the snowman, big shot here; 1 West Point Judy- Steps up, but not sure how impressive last start really is; 7 Steping High- Has been doing good work and may contend.
Race 6: 5 Electric Wizard- Class relief and Ryan Stahl for a barn that is warming up a bit; 6 Allamerican Amigo- Another back class horse to consider; 1 Kinnick- Love Charlino, not horses coming from the mile for the first time. Possible trap.

Race 7: 1 Catnapper- The rail and first time Aaron in awhile; 2 Isa Devil- 3rd back (sort of) off a good effort in last; 3 Breeze On By N- Moves up off an impressive effort; 4 Currently Flying- Always hangs around and could get a decent piece of this.

Race 8: 9 Hawaiian Music Man- Where the akamai kala will be; 1 Our Rail Fantasy- Rail may make fantasy come true; 5 Dummy Jones- Another example of why Ohio needs a 30-day rule.

Race 9: 4 Where Do I Begin- Ignore the scratch, has upside; 9 Touch Of Nay- Moves up but has been racing well; 7 Justherighttouch- Canadian invader likes a half and is well-connected.

Race 10: 3 Rich Cowboy- Wake up call in last, first time Aaron; 6 Mattonthechooch- Third start back and some back class, has not sustained work lately; 5 Magic Dart- Drops to level of a good 2nd six back; 1 Mr Bacciagalupe- Inconsistent & Page chose off (although Charlino knows him).

Race 11: 4 Bookworm Hanover- Open trotter is headed back the right way; 9 Little Old Ladywho- Getting better and better, what’s her bottom? 1 Ray J- Consistent, even without Stahl.

Race 12: 5 Happytime- Moves up in a pretty good form cycle; 4 Laughing Is An Art- Stahl chose off, but I will disagree; 2 Liftoff Bayama- Always hangs around, not winning much lately.

Race 13: 3 Capricious Art- Form isn’t flawless, but it is pretty darn good; 9 Dd Cam Ram- Page chose over 2/4/5—enough for me; 2 Lucky Jackpot- Inconsistent one can contend with best.

Race 14: 2 Samcin- Class relief, Aaron first time and some moderate previous work; 6 Phagus Hall- Finishes strong but may be too far back early; 1 Flash Dancing- Does work, rarely sustains it. Maybe from the rail; 3 Cruisin Sam- Best of the rest.
