Friday Filly Follies

L'shana Tovah. I will be ushering in the Jewish New Year Friday night (yes, I am actually ushering at my Temple), but fear not, here are my picks. May the year be happy, healthy and sweet.

Here are Publicity Director Keith Gisser’s handicapping tips, provided, as always, at no extra charge with a program purchase! Due to our printing schedule, picks are done in advance and may not account for in-to-go horses or late scratches and driver changes, so be sure to log on to The Giss’s blog at www.northfieldpark.com, and watch our nightly televised picks for updates.

Race 1: 6 Desert Bunny- Contends at this level & a big effort in last; 4 Shadowcross Above- No horse should ever be 3-5 in this class, another chance; 1 Foxy Jane- Rail at the bottom level.

Race 2: 2 Mary My King- Gets a good post draw and may beat a balanced group; 1 Miss Debron- A good post draw and gets Kakaley; 3 Bette Lavec- Better with the straps, consider.

Race 3: 3 Attack On The Town- Wildly inconsistent, but first time Deaton; 2 Precious Lass- Moves up, Canfield mile was deceptive; 1 Triple Fronts- Consistently better since getting Lasix.

Race 4: 7 Paint Wheel- Needs to overcome draw, but Aaron chose over 4/5/8; 5 Silky Sailor- Was my original pick and will not suffer with Matt K. in the bike; 2 Redmeansgo- Racing well and outdraws the top pair; 1 Helene’s Escape- Pitch last from the snowman, she has a chance.

Race 5: 1 Excellent Caviar- Gets Aaron again and there’s no Krissy K here; 6 Tag Dancer’s Filly- A good first effort back despite the DQ. No Giss of Death tonight, can I have some more cookies? 7 M D Superstar- Gets Kakaley but needs to stay flat.

Race 6: 9 Karrydale Charm- Has not raced this cheap in ages; 3 Miss Peabody’s Hat- Fairs may have freshened her, has back class and gets Kakaley; 7 Ashley’s Big Affair- Gets Stahl.

Race 7: 9 Doowrah Silver- Shows a win at this level, but it’s a guess; 4 Colossal Sahbra- Best horse, suspect form, but best draw in a long time; 3 Memorial Day Bunny- Kakaley – Larrabee combo is lethal; 2 Game Sophie- First time Deaton the angle on this career underachiever.

Race 8: 8 Candy Apple Miss- Not sure how good she is, but has impressed the heck out of me; 6 French Worker- Faces softer after mediocre fair campaign; 1Eww That Smell- Gets the rail.

Race 9: 6 Carry The Light- The value play certainly has a chance; 4 Iloolikevada- She is super sharp right now and will take a lot of play; 2 Krissy K- Rolled lesser in last and will be the fave.

Race 10:Sharon’s Future- Returning to form, will lead; 4 Jay Bee’s Muffie- 2nd time Lasix, post may have hurt in last; 6 Virtual Dream- Consistent bottom of the ticket type off current form.

Race 11 9 Tidewater Misty- Has license to step up big-time if she can handle the 2nd tier; 5 I Be Strollin- Consistent and 2nd time Lasix; 4 Odessa Angus- Moves up off dominating win and has some back class.

Race 12: Gadjet- I like this mare even though she moves back up; 8 Icu Roller- Outisde did her in last time, further out for Matt here; 3 Cg’s Lady- Improving and can add value to this one.

Race 13: 1 She’s So- Rebounded from sickness in last and moves up to a level where she raced well before; 9 Pocket Belle N- 2nd time Lasix may not be enough to overcome 2nd tier start; 4 Electric Highlight- Two straight off lines for the first time since JFK was President.

Race 14: 2 Laffy Taffy- has been knocking at the door & gets a soft spot despite moving up; 1 Classy Sarah- Will contend from the rail, but rarely wins; 4 My Sweet Lorelei- Back at her best level here; 9 McMerry Again- Moves up and gets Matt K. A chance for some tri/super value
