The big news here is that for the first time in a long time Aaron Merriman is driving LOTS of Schillaci trainees. I smell a big night. Or maybe I just need a shower. I am live in the winners circle Saturday. Stop by and say hey.
Race 1: 9 Tooter Lane- Fresh horse angle here and should get a perfect trip for Leo; 1 Sand Honors- Has speed, but finishes his miles the way the US Men’s soccer team finishes its matches- on hands and knees; 7 Color Me Black- Improved with Charlino last time.
Race 2: 4 Handsome Jack- Big time class relief, two below level of last win; 2 Danny-o- Gait improving and fits with a flat mile; 9 Tropicante- Hangs out at this level a lot and competes.
Race 3: 3 Pacey Deucey- Super Qualifier after a bit of a freshening; 1 Dontgetintheway- Form is tailing, but still pretty decent; Epes- Consistent performer even though E.D. chose off.
Race 4: 6 Real Peachy- Does work, but last trip was “the pits.” 1 Diana Court- Gets Aaron and the rail, would like to see her on the engine; 4 Sharp Alma- Not wild about her these days, but always seems to get a piece; 5 My Sweet Lorelei- Third back after a classic bounce effort in last.
Race 5: 3 Llc- Not sure if Kurt chose off or has to drive #4 due to partnership with trainer- will try to find out; 1 Fortune King- Moves up off two sharp wins, including a life best; 4 Bud’s On Ice- With a name like that, no wonder is recent form has cooled off.
Race 6: 4 Allamerican Magic- Back at a competitive level; 1 Allamerican Viper- Aaron & this one get along like ketchup & French fries; 5 Make Me Proudchico- Always does work and fits.
Race 7: 5 I’ve Got Life- Wide open race with no obvious angle, the call goes to the back class; 3 Eagle Tack- Best post in six, a shot; 4 Rapport Hanover- Can rise to the occasion on occasion; 9 Class Worker- Aaron chooses to the second tier starter.
Race 8: 4 Kami’s Call- Always tries, but style best suited elsewhere; 6 Bankers Dream- Stablemate has Aaron as Wyatt chose Kami; 7 Candacraigh- Great horse & great …guy driving.
Race 9: 2 Dynamgic- Huge effort with the change in scenery last start; 4 Red Cloud Rising N- Another Schillaci-Merriman combo that is solid; 6 Prepare To Attack- Post is issue for speedster.
Race 10: 3 R Cowboy- Call to the class; 6 Blastaway Sahbra- Even more class; 1 Canaco Orville- One of these things is not like the other; 5 Swissonian- Has only made $180K life.
Race 11: 4 Special D- Eight starts, one loss by a nose. That is what you call a nice colt; 3 Painted Speed- Wildly inconsistent, should have been named Indians’ Bullpen; 5 Misty’s Dignity- Charlino chooses off, but horse is scary fast.
Race 12: 6 Fox Valley Flyby- Will lose again… just not tonight; 4 No Risk- Proved me wrong with a 2nd big effort at $8K; 2 Elm Grove Gerson- Post draw helps him immensely.
Race 13: 4 Zakman- Gets class relief and my call, even though E.D. chose the 9; 5Nuclear Cam- Always gives good effort; 1 Go Bogart- How many times can we say Schillaci-Merriman?
Race 14: 2 Western Empire- Classy veteran may be ready at first asking; 3 Harmony Oaks Tom- Aaron in bike may push him forward; 9 Market Value- Adequate local debut, may be better tonight; 6 Real Artistic- Has bounced around, but can contend off his best.
