Saturday Stuff Feb 19

A competitive card once again. It sure would be nice if there was a way we could find out for sure which condition a horse gets in under when classes are combined. We cannot always tel from the form and I think it is a better handicapping angle than those inane comments Ayers is forced to use. Eight hole. Post hurt. That's helpful. Oh well, good luck!
Northfield Picks from “The Giss,” Keith Gisser
Saturday, February 19

We provide The Giss's handicapping tips free with every Northfield live program. Due to our printing schedule, picks are done in advance and don’t account for in-to-go horses, late scratches or driver changes, so log on to The Giss’s blog at www.northfieldpark.com, or watch the nightly televised picks from Ayres Ratliff for updates!

Race 1: Broadway Fame- Racing the best of these right now; 2 Bell valley Indian- Never in his last, major player with a return to form; 5 Big George H- A bit inconsistent, class relief helps.

Race 2: 4 Son Of A Spur- Valley of Vice will be overbet, Hello Carlo may needs a local start so he’s a logical, value play and form is good; 1 Valley Of Vice- Hasn’t won since the claim; 5 Australian Stock- Best local effort ever here in his last.

Race 3: 1 Depravedhedonist- Elliott, just put him on the point and roll; 5 Jenna’s Dream- Beat these with a superior effort in last; 8 Country Creek- Snowman may be a killer, but he stills has a shot.

Race 4: 5 Moreland Flash- Andy and J.G. have the best horse on the grounds right now; 6 Caramel Dumpling- Not exactly a surprise when I say “ he will be flying late,” 4 Imperious- Rotten trip last time, consider; 3 Scoozi- May need a local start, cue Queen’s, “Flash.” Saviour of the Universe? Ha-ha.

Race 5: 2 Vince The Man- Noble’s choice over #1/6/7, he’s a logical pick; 6 Mr Oxford- Thought someone might take him last time, solid; 5 Delivered Rules- 2K10 HOY gets class relief & may rebound.

Race 6: 6 I Know Your Lookin- Needs to sustain his work, but class relief should help; 3 Alakazam Mike- Reunited with Deaton, exceptional form; 9 Saucy Brown- Beat these in last, 2nd tier a problem?

Race 7: 9 Raines Hanover- Got what he needed in first local start, he’ll be better here; 6 Worker C-Fresh hands angle, even though Dan C chose off; 3 Key Western- One of these days, no, really; 2 Mattonthechooch- Took pressure, still beat these in last and draws well again.

Race 8: 9 Domi Racer- Needs a flat mile, which is no guarantee; 5 Katie’s Red Rose- She is the class of these, but recent form is iffy; 1 Mr Sam- Moves up but us a solid, honest trotter who’s still improving.

Race 9: 1 Balin Hanover- Look for improvement with rail and Aaron; 4 Heez Ruthelss N- Was ruthless in his last to earn ETE, but what, 1-5 here? 3 Triggerhappyfellow- Gets class relief and may fire tonight.

Race 10: 3 Gyraider- Slight call in a group that doesn’t look like $400ps; 2 Bridgecreek- Did good work in the move up last week; 6 Epes- Can never dismiss this classy veteran; 1 Blue My Mind- Always a factor from the rail and may add value to exotics.

Race 11: 1 Irish Raider- Eligible at time of entry and the rail? Grab the Jamieson’s; 9 Step By Step- Gets class relief and may be able to compete; 2 Western Gun- NW1L8 and a good draw, consider.

Race 12: 3 Motorcycle Mike- Seems to be back, just need a play to make it worthwhile; 4 Picasso’s Dream- Lost to the choice last time but can turn the tables; 6 Zipsnapndrop- Best of the rest.

Race 13: 1 Cherokee Ryder- Bled last time and now gets Lasix, a return to form? 9 The Libberteriann- May need spell-check, but he could trip out here; 2 Jack Maverick- Moves up, but usually gives effort; 5 Big Bad Tj- Should be better in this class.
