Saturday selections

I am going to take the night off, as tempted as I am to come in and gamble a bit. The new conditions could make things very interesting and i think there will be value for the next week to ten days, even though January's post position stats (www.northfieldpark.com/page.aspx?PageID=/news/stats) are nearly identical to the 2010 year-end stats.

Race 1: 1 Rounding Third- The sky’s the limit if he learns to steer for new connections; 2 Jack Maverick- Aaron’s choice over #8 fits well from here; 8 The Libberteriann- Snowman is a killer.

Race 2: 6 Katie’s Red Rose- Trip didn’t work out in last, faces softer, another chance; 2 R Cowboy- Aaron chose over #4; 4 Valley Of Vice- Gets Dan C., but Aaron’s choice off concerns.

Race 3: 3 Key Western- Racing very well & has class to handle these; 1 Depravedhedonist- Always gives effort and is a major player from the rail; 5 Mr Oxford- Must leave hard to contend.

Race 4: 4 Yanzhou- Faces a little softer after some decent efforts; 9 Fantasy Character- Good trip in last, but 54 is 54 in January; 3 Moreland Flash- Wildly inconsistent, contends with his best; 8 Meritage Hanover- Racing very well, just not sure he can overcome the snowman.

Race 5: 5 Empire State- Qualified in 57.3 and may be ready at first asking; 9 Forever Friendly- Nearly last for the teen, Tyler; 2 Scootin Higher- Gets class relief and always contends.

Race 6: 4 Caramel Dumpling- As cheap as he has raced in ages, flies late to win; 3 Straight To Ruin-Sharp, but faces a much stronger group; 6 Gramma’s Guy- Very sharp, a bit far outside.

Race 7: 9 Country Creek- Could be anything with the barn change, risky; 4 Broadway Fame- Well-proven at this level; 5 Genesis See Yah- Back up in class, but figures with the right trip.

Race 8: 9 China Fame- Gets class relief and likes this surface better than Buffalo’s; 4 Son Of A Spur- Has certainly gone forward since the claim, but this is a big step back up; 6 Musical Dream- Consistent, but not a race-winner.

Race 9: 3 J D’s Turismo- 2/2 win was a second+ faster than any other that night; 5 Jenna’s Dream- Gets class relief after some moderate efforts; 1 Zakman- Loves the rail, on the ticket.

Race 10: 9 Snows Bangert Boy- A step above his best level, just a hunch he will overcome it; 7 Big Bad Tj- Starting to do more work of late; 1 Rocco’s Revenge- Improving since time off, rail helps; 2 Great Scot- Showed improvement last time and now gets a legit post draw.

Race 11: 4 Step By Step- Only because Aaron’s chose over the #2; 2 Blue My Mind- Class dropper always tries, but dropped him down with Aaron off; 5 Intrepid Aries- Solid at this level.

Race 12: 3 Category Six- Couldn’t overcome 2nd tier in last, one more chance; 1 Saucy Brown- Needs some racing luck; 5 Three Sox Missing- Often on the board, rarely wins, Aaron chose #3.

Race 13: 6 Dakotas Bridgeman- Good win on a very slow track last time; 7 Dm Fatboy Slim- Back in at his best level; 1 Motorcycle Mike- Disappointed off the claim, but was up two classes; 5 Zipsnapndrop- Raced well off the scratch, possible bounce concerns me.
