Kentucky Derby Day at Northfield

In the arcane world of Ohio simulcasting laws, it's just another Saturday for us. We are not allowed to carry the Derby (and frankly, this year's race seems to lack drama, although a 4-horse exacta box will probably return a fortune as evenly matched as they all are). Bet it at Cedar Downs. Bet it on betharness/betrunners.com. But you can only WATCH it here.

Whether should be great. Hopefully we will have a camera three and I will be in the winners circle, giving out the picks (Had a pretty good night Tuesday, if you were watching) and sampling the new  Special Super Premium Selection cigars from the gift shop. Will they be Fuente? Punch? Hoyo de Monterrey? Perhaps La Gloria Cubana or CAO Brazilia. You will just have to check it out. Good luck!

Race 1: 9 Crusinfull Throttle- The #4 will be overbet, this one had a nice freshman campaign, let’s take a chance; 4 Personal Pleasure- 1-9 she will be under 1-1 and that makes her unplayable at 0-4-25 lifetime; 1 Palmach- Best driver in awhile, maybe ever.

Race 2: 2 Master Buckin Uhl- I like all of these, box them, depends on the trips; 4 Extravagant Manner- Has been better without the straps; 1 Excellent Caviar- Will be forward early.

Race 3: 5 Muhammad Ali N- Hard to ignore a 55.4 win 2 back, even if he did tire in last; 1 Heez Ruthless N- Moves up but looms a danger from the rail; 2 Brandon’s Art- Races well w/Dan C.

Race 4: 6 Chang Dynasty- Slight call in an evenly matched group; 3 Blue My Mind- Corned beef sandwiches for everyone if he wins; 9 Gordie How- This is his bets level right now; 2 Winter Cruise- Stahl chose over the 5, who I liked, but will he choose this one over the Cavs?

Race 5: 1 Laughing Is An Art- Stahl chose the Sherman-trainee & Aaron jumped off the 6, which rarely happens; 3 Snappy Sport- Not sure he can handle moving up; 9 Rapid City- Fresh.

Race 6: 5 Lucca’s Revenge- Might win the toughest race to ‘cap on this card; 3 Mom’s Looker- Gets Stahl and has had excuses when he gets bad results; 2 Mom’s A Hustler- Comes off a lifetime best win AND they opened up the class for her (and the 4).

Race 7: 9 Western Outfitter- Should be better with a start and the class drop and a likely perfect trip; 1 Road Storm- Will be favored and doing all the work; 3 Vilas Blue Chip- Another chance off a flat effort; 7 Little Gary Perry- $2500 claimer moves up yet again. Must like the Midwest.

Race 8: 9 Kinnick- Doesn’t win very often, but neither does the other top contender; 3 Eye Of The Dog- Should be solid from here; 7 Dragon Rider- Gets Stahl, can he overcome the draw?

Race 9: 5 Dunkster- Class relief for the World Champ, he has $900K in his sights; 4 Little Old Ladywho- Sharp and some class as well; 2 Samsawinner- Fast and a pretty good Q at Pinehurst for Dee. May need a start or two.

Race 10: 1 The Long Goodbye- Should say goodbye to this group from the rail; 5 Goatcoat George Tm- Long losing streak, but good form; 8 Polo Joe- Will he be close enough early to close well late? 7 Lucky Jackpot- Consistent and a hot driver.

Race 11: 8 Painted Speed- No value, but is sharp enough to handle the snowman assignment; 4 Delivered Rules- Has been pretty consistent, even in Opens; 1 Camcoder- Fits well, flies late.
Race 12: 4 Major Degree- Has had excuses and is only three, can go forward; 5 Kzul Sx Bluegrass- Moves up after just missing his lifetime best, which was set on a mile oval; 6 Good Goalie- Critical in soccer and hockey; critical to your trifecta ticket here.

Race 13: 5 Snows Bangert Boy- Drops below the level of the last win and gets Aaron back. Jogburger; 6 Three Times Silver- His up cycles are short, but he is in good form right now; 1 Elm Grove Gerson- Rail helps, so I picked him even though Dan didn’t; 9 Auto Pilot- 2nd tier a ?.
