Monday Maybes

(with apologies to Cliff Gregory). Not a huge fan of many of these. I will look to get a lot of favorites beat and may chancge my mind as post time approaches. Good luck!

Northfield Picks from “The Giss,” Keith GisserMonday, May 4
Publicity Director Keith Gisser’s handicapping tips are provided with every Northfield live program at no extra charge! Due to our printing schedule, picks are done in advance and may not account for in-to-go horses or late scratches and driver changes, so be sure to log on to The Giss’s blog at http://northfieldpark.blogspot.com/, or watch the nightly televised picks of Dave Bianconi, Ayres Ratliff or Keith for updates!

Race 1: 5 Parris Island- Solid contender should step up tonight; 2 Lavec’s Tomahawk- ScD qua was fine, but too many xxx for me; 7 Sand Jamie- Matt’s choice over #1, needs to do more.

Race 2: 6 Swing To The Top- Dee brings ‘em along slowly and this one will be ready for a half-mile track; 4 Cam’s Honey- Got a bit leg weary in the q, license to improve; 5 French Worker- Ridiculous trip and effort in last, line does not tell the whole story.

Race 3: 6 Anzio Hall- Has shown little of late, but has a bit of class; 4 Southwind Paseo- Drops on the ship from Mea5/8, but has shown little; 1 Llc-Ditto the #4, needs a flat mile.

Race 4: 2 Go For It- Class relief and a competitive draw for a change; 9 Man’s Star- Does work now and again; 4 Dinn’s Ghost- 3rd back, class relief and loves this track; 7 Splash Of Tequila- Showed improvement last time and could add value.

Race 5: 3 Out Of The Habit- Change in tactics did not work last time, down the road tonight; 4 Amish Mafia- Woke up a bit in last; 2 Lignano- Has done good work, but must do more to win.

Race 6: 2 Made For Cruising- Rapidly improving, but will be no value; 3 Coin Of The Realm- Inconsistent, but raced well, benefitting in last; 8 Sleepen N Memphis- Huge in last, but will the trip be any better with the snowman tonight?

Race 7: 2 Provara’s Best- Improved with Josh last time and fits; 7 Pat’s Cloud- Also Eligible moves in and figures if he can overcome the draw; 1 Bahama Bomber- Can stalk for a minor piece here; 9 Ben Unbelievable- Unproven from the second tier.

Race 8: 9 Big Budded Rose- Not sure she’ll race from a hole, Aaron’s trip is key; 7 Cinderella’s Pete- Improving since Kakaley took over; 2 Hoosier Jazz- No chance with recent posts. Value.

Race 9: 3 Ira K- Slight call to this class dropper; 1 Mighty Looker- Another classy one in poor form that’s dropping; Dublin Dollars- Is he sharp enough to beat the top two? He’s a $3 claimer.

Race 10: 9 Dreamie Affair- Ultra consistent and versatile; sharp; 2 French Attack- Very competitive in this class; 5 Blue Rock Joe- Moves up in a good form cycle; 1 R U There- Will be better with the rail after the Raceway Park start.

Race 11: 5 Master GP Dean- Another chance after the bad break; 6 Hey Ray- Fits the class, but recent wins are few and far between; 7 Lookingpretty- A Beinhauer-owned Sierra Kosmos. There’s something you don’t see too often. Qually leaves me with questions.

Race 12: 6 Sometimes Eternal- Drops below the level of last win, despite recent checks; 2 Southwind Menlo- Class relief and a barn change, why not? 4 Water Twice- Tends to hang around when drawing well.

Race 13: Johnnyisajohnny- Broke through in last after a series of improved efforts; 4 Take Down Hall- Has been solid in 4 of last 5; 1- McGwire- Old guy has a good history at this track, but may need a start or two; 2 Stand By Yourself- Inconsistent, but usually does work.
