Friday picks now that I am fully recovered

The only problem with a vacation is the pile of work that invariably awaits you when you return. After heading to North Carolina and stocking up on cigars at JR Cigar and good bourbon (it is nearly 15% cheaper than in the Buckeye State, I have returned. I got to meet Dean Ripa, one of the foremost venomous snake experts in the world at his Cape Fear Serpentarium and generally had a great time with my bride.

Now, back to business:
Race 1: 5 Super Speedway- Making the winning move when he broke, another chance; 4 Star-why- Huge in debut for new barn, but Matt K. chose off; 2 Striking Karat- Five shows in a row?

Race 2: 2 Lobe’s Player- Best of the class droppers here; Positivereaction N- The old black mare just ain’t what she used to be, but this is as cheap as she has raced since Thunder Ridge; 3 Junes Jaguar- Form is going south, but with the class drop, perhaps a detour.

Race 3: 7 Ashley Cruiser- Improving with every start and gets Kakaley; 4 Easy Operator- Massive class relief, but has shown little at Mea5/8; 3 Amazing Towner- Good seasonal debut.

Race 4: 6 Polo Aub- Aaron chose this one over the three, so I did too; 3 Shelby’s Muneymaker- My original choice, she won’t stall with Stahl; 5 Doowrah Silver- Doesn’t win, but does work and hangs around; 4 My Sweet Lorelei- Former Open Mare is Improving and fits with this group.

Race 5: 5 Manhattan Design- Owner Charlino pilots and mare has a motor; 2 Mindy Love Brown- Fits, but not a winner with these; 1 Sand On The Beach- Good debut, is way up in class.

Race 6: 1 Krissy K- With the rail gets the edge over Vada; 8 Ilooklikevada- Not sure how effective she can be from the eight; 7 Sweet Potatoe- Race may set up for this closer.

Race 7: 4 Cocktail Onion- Smith to Aaron as positive an angle as you can get; 7 Anything But Plain- Woke up with the class drop, can she win from out here? 1 Lonehill Valvette- Usually competes from the rail, Robin chose off; 5 Brite Time Sue- Fresh pair of hands may wake her up.

Race 8: 4 Weekie Wachie- Impressive in her last, repeats; 5 Sara’s Lil Sis- Good return from sickness, should return to previous form; 7 Passing Lane Penny- The class, but draws poorly.

Race 9: 4 Gajdet- Wins battle of the Wall of Fame owners in her seasonal debut; 6 Osborne’s Gypsy- A tough assignment for her; 7 Coras Grace- Racing well but may need a start over the Flying Turns, especially from out here.

Race 10: 4 Quenelle Hanover- Pretty much a default choice, who else can win? 3 Betcha I Attack- Stahl chose over the 2, a minor surprise, 1 Slick-as-sleet- Has drawn as badly as possible and now gets the rail; 2 Vale Breeze- Big effort off break, bounce or improvement?

Race 11: 6 Bt Connection- Class dropper has the best recent results; 1 Whoville- The rail in this class is huge; 9 Gates Of Heaven- Drops to level of last win, sort of.

Race 12: 3 Rosie’s Sweetie- Back in the fours where she belongs; 5 Electric Highlight- Ultra consistent and will break through son; 4 Ms Fun- Aaron’s choice over 6 & 8, a pair of legit fours.

Race 13: 1 Precious Lass- Lifetime mark in her last, enough for me; 3 Survivor I Am- Drops off two decent efforts; 5 Cathy-D- Gets Charlino and is returning to her good early ’09 form.

Race 14: 1 Tequila-Matt and the rail is enough for me; 8 Silky Sailor- Things may not be smooth fro Aaron’s choice from out here; 6 Rinestone Coddie- consistent sort; 7 Fleur De Le- In good form but not as effective from out here.
